Apple Dumplings

I'm hoping someone can interpret this for me. I need a little more instructions. Also, is the second line of the ingredients H2O? I love that there is butter and shortening this.

  1. Okay, let's see if I can help...
The first 5 ingredients all go in a saucepan to simmer, and yes, that is H2O in the second line :)
The second 5 ingredients are the pastry dough. I don't use baking powder and I use butter instead of shortening but you can use whatever pastry dough you like. Roll it out and cut it into squares for the dumplings.
Thinly slice the apples and place a pile on each square, top with a dab of butter and some cinnamon, close it up and put it in a baking dish.
When you have all the dumplings in the dish pour the sauce over them and bake.
Serve with vanilla ice cream! They love them here in Bolivia!!

As I write this I can picture myself making these with mom... such wonderful memories!!
